Yawn... we're back from hibernation

yah yah yah... we know.

It's been a long--- loooong 2 months and 8 days since our last post!

It's not that we are lazy, but here's why...

1) we were shifting houses - must pack up all our foodies and toys!

2) we were accustoming ourselves with a junior suite room (instead of the tiny, tiny room in Woodlands)

3) we were unpacking - must store and stack our stuff in the right cupboards! Hohoo..

Shouldn't take more than 2 months right? unless we have migrated from Singapore to North Pole or something.

The main, main reason is MaMa. There's so much going-ons on her life these weeks that she needs time to adapt.

I hate it when everyone starts telling me I'm FAT!

Grandma came by last weekend, and within the hour that she was at our place... she kept repeating "Why ah... Milo? How come so Fat?" The ULTIMATE one was "So FAT! Like a pig already?!!"

Do I look anything remotely like a PIG? No pig on earth have fur and floppy ears ok?

Ma have been cutting down on snacks and meals.. BUT It's a blessing to live and eat, right? EATING is soooo crucial to calm my rumbling tummy. I Live to Eat... Not Eat to Live.

Whatever you say... FAT or plump, I'm NOT going on a diet.

Bring on those snacks... Ma!

17 June 2007... the day when every dog celebrates its master's day - Father's Day. Thankfully Pa will think I am a loyal dog to him for remembering this all important day. (Very very 'heng' = lucky, Ma reminded me by logging in to blog this as a tribute to Pa).

See Pa, I really really 'wuff' you lots! I cannot sleep without having a good sniff at your toes!

Thank you for lending your precious toes (when you are asleep) for me to expand all my doggie energies.

{Kopi} But I AM hungry what...

We usually have 2 meals a day. The 1st meal of the day as breakfast at 6.45am and the second as our supper at 11.30pm. The routine has been fixed for the past few years...

Sometime last week, Ma (as usual) prepared our breakfast with my favourite 'Addiction' meat chunks and nibbles. In her groggy/sleepy state, she accidentally dropped my bowl of food on the floor. Ah ya, what's new.. this is Ma, the klutz.

Milo and I scrambled for the food, licking off the floor... Oi! what hygiene? It's Addiction meat chunks leh! We competed to see who gets the most meat chunks off the floor and in no time, the floor was sparkling clean again. Ma cleaned the floor and our bowls and she went about her 'going-off to work' routine.

And Pa, who always clean our faces and bowls after our breakfast, saw that we were without our ear covers and bowls. He assumed that we have NOT eaten!! Woo hooo...

It's round 2, as Pa prepared more 'Addiction' meat chunks with nibbles. Well, you know if food is offered, table manners is to finish everything off the bowl, right? And so we did!

Ma came out of the shower, and spotted us eating AGAIN! She shrieked at Pa for feeding us AGAIN... but it's too late, we finished everything! Yummy!

Pa explained to Ma that we look so, so, so hungry that he thought that he needed to feed us! Well, Pa... what can I say... You have been 'Punked'. We ALWAYS look hungry. Here's proof.

{Milo} Ever wonder why we wag our tails?

Allow me, the intellectual of my family, to share the knowledge...

Most people think that dogs wag their tails only when they're happy.
But it's a little MORE-- complicated than that.

Wagging is a form of communication for us, we don't usually wag our tails when we're alone (siao arh, think we are as silly as humans who talk to themselves?).

It's one of the only few methods used to show our emotional states. The wag can convey good spirits, fear, aggravation, dominance, or submission. It doesn't mean that when we are wagging our tails, we are happy-campers! We could be in fear... and may need to pounce on you to defend ourselves? It all depends on the situations, our moods and if we are friends.

But one's thing clear... we are always so happy when we see our Ma and Pa.
I wuff them so much!
No instructions needed, just shake our butts and tails off!! Let me get Ma to video us when we do the booty dance soon!

Remember Ma & Pa's bangkok trip? I know we told you about the yummies and goodies from Chatuchak Weekend Market. But... the story doesn't there.

Ma bought a new dog during her trip!! What?? How to smuggle you may ask...
But she did it even with all the custom xray checks, bleeping scanners... she practically hugged the 'bugger' back home to Singapore.

{Kopi} What CNY??!

I know every dog probably LOVES CNY.. with the wonderful bites of bak-kwa, cookies, love letters and more bak-kwa!

I love CNY too... but not so this year.
Ma and Pa decided to go on a CNY holiday.

In doggie language, that translates to dog-boarding for me and Milo. Sob Sob --

A week before our "hotel stay", Ma took us for grooming... to make sure we were clean and comfortable for the NON-AIRCONDITIONED kennel. Her instructions to the groomer were "make my boys as good-looking as Wentworth Miller!"

In doggie language (again), it means BOTAK!

Ma was pissed off with the Pasir Ris place (we used to board there) and so, she decided to try out Mitchville Kennels off Seletar Farmway.
It was quite a good place, cos' we get to see lots of goldens -- and we absolutely adore them!

And so poor me and Milo got dumped into the prison (kennel) just like the buddies on the Prison Break show -- Scofield and Sucre. Think I might be Scofield, with his dashing good looks and broading stares. And Milo? Sucre lah.... He's as dark-skinned and scaredy-cat as him mah. *woof*

We peed, poo-ed and did everything together in the small, locked up cell... before we could think of a grand plan to escape our cell, Ma and Pa came to pick us up 5 days later. Yeah, home sweet home!

Thankfully, our imprisonment was well-rewarded by many, many treats from Bangkok. So... no complaints... *woof*

We want a Cockermobile!!

It's our very OWN car, belonging to us only... flashing our cocker identities to the world in a cooool number plate!! One and only car on Singapore's roads with a COCKER-plate!! Woo hooo!

{Milo} Yah lah.. it's unique and so Cocker-cool. Luckily, Pa changed the too cutesy red car into a black, fierce-looking one which is more suitable to be a cockermobile! Now, if only we can get Pa to read our blogs to purchase the license plate online....

{Kopi} WTH are you doing downstairs???!!

You know we were telling you about how Ma was at home for a couple of days with us? Poor Ma, who is supposed to be recuperating and...

The horrible irritants downstairs started drilling, pounding, shouting and more from 8.30am SHARP! Stupid ppl are constructing an overhead bridge to prevent jaywalkers. It doesn't make a difference! Would you spend 2 minutes dashing across the road or 10 minutes crawling up and down the bridge?

And righteous me, was on the bed... peering through the windows and of cos' barking away furiously at the noise from the construction.

1) Barks that are loud enough for ppl on level 1 to hear?

2) The barks are not working...

3) Ok, now I'm getting quite pissed off already.

4) Let me get closer to the windows so that they can hear me.

5) Aaaargh! These ppl made my hair STAND!

6) Idiots.. I'm super pissed now. Go find Ma to switch the radio on.

What we do during the day...

{Milo} Sleep wherever Ma goes...

Ma is recuperating at home these days.
We get to roam around the house without being confined. Yippee!

You must be wondering what we are usually up to during the day.
Well, ALL dogs sleep in the day (or rather cocker spaniels do at least).
Zzzz....... we close our shutters as soon as Ma stays stationed at one spot for more than 10 mins. Every 10 mins, we shift our sleeping positions or location to cool off.

As soon as Ma walks from room to room, we follow her just like a pair of PIs.
Pa >> here's evidence... we didn't irritate or kah-jiao Ma Ma ok?

You'all must have missed me and Milo (more me than Milo, I hope)... please forgive my Ma for not updating our adventures here. Ma's life has been topsy-turvy these days and we are trying hard to be loving to her and Pa at home.

With the heavy downpours happening every other day, walks with Pa are infrequent now. Stupid rain.. rain.. and rain. You made us all pudgy and obese without our daily exercise. (oops Pa, not referring to you..)

{Milo} No cake at all!!! Sob sob......

This is so upsetting... Ma brought back a HUGE X'mas Fruit cake on Monday and I thought it was for my birthday on Tues. It ended up in the fridge... not even a tiny morsel of cake was given to me on my birthday?! And Kopi got his Mango Mousse cake for his birthday.

UNFAIR Mama!! This is favouritism!

I was making small noises to grab their attention the whole night. And Ma finally showered me with many, many smooches and she'll get me something yummy over the weekend. Dinner was filled with plenty of pork, spinach and carrots... and Pa promised to bring me for a long walk soon (when it stops raining at night).

Promises.. promises.. promises.. hope the humans remember them!

{Kopi} Poor Ma, she's been so busy to update all my woofie friends on my birthday celebrations.

As everyone should know (by now), my birthday falls on 1 Dec and the birthday wishes which I made earlier...

I GOT MY MANGO MOUSSE CAKE!!! WOO HOO!! It was so yummy! Stupid Milo got half my super-duper cake. No choice, good things in my life have been halved since the furry bugger came to live with me.

No munchy bone, but Ma did feed me a delicious greenie.kk, no squeaky toy too... erm, no time to shop for one was the excuse Ma gave.

Excursion? Yes.. yes.. it will have to wait till all my cocker friends meet on 16 Dec @ Sentosa! Woo hoo x 100!

What???!! Swim indeed! I am usually so fearful of my weekly baths, anything that deals with dunking my head into water and getting my golden brown fur wet. Grrrrr....Stay away!

Ma & Pa brought us for our very 1st swim one sunny, Sunday morning.

The gung-ho Kopi (who loves water very much and a supposedly a good swimmer?)...

Bah! What swimmer??? All he could do is some pirouettes round and round the same spot. Swim, Kopi, Swim.. not flaunt your water ballerina skills!
Kopi was spinning around madly (like a washing machine – hur hur), trying his very best to keep his head above water. So much for his “I love water, thus I should be able to swim”boast.

And to get me soakingly wet, Pa shoved me into the pool and was so surprised with my adept swimming skills. Come on, I could swim from one end of the pool to the other. Hah hah! Na Na Na Nee

Surprisingly, I had so much fun at the pool that my water phobia vanished! It's really exhausting to be paddling around in the pool and very soon, I was trotting around with my long, wet tongue hanging all out!

CSI --- Blood, blood everywhere!

{Kopi} I need blood transfusion, quick!

Remember I was telling you about my encounter with UTI?
It's bad... porky soup did not work to cure me.

Ma & Pa reeled in shock when I peed blood on Sunday, 6pm. I was rushed to the vet within 20 mins (they have to close their shutters at 7pm SHARP! No compassion at all!). The vet tried feeling my bladder and stuck her fingers to feel my prostate! wth.. who gave you permission to.. to.. stuck it in? Eeewww...

Anyway, cut.. cut my very looong story short.. the vet needed me to take some xray shots of my bladder for stones! She showed this BIG, fifty cent coin size bladder stone to my Ma & Pa, and that got them very worried. And you know what's the silliest thing? This clinic does not have any xray facilities. So, Ma and Pa had to bring me to another vet the next day.

Home was a place that looked like a scene out of CSI episode. Blood dripped everywhere whenever I peed.

Phew! We went for the xray the next day, and thank my lucky "bones"... no bladder stones were found. Vet said for Ma and Pa to monitor my urine the next 10 days with the heavy antibiotics and anti-swelling medication. My bladder lining seems swollen and possibly one of the blood vessels burst which resulted in the gory scene at home.

So for now.. it's a wait and see period. If blood is still present in my urine after 10 days, Ma and Pa will have to bring me for an ultrasound. YIKES! I dun want... that at all! Must shave my tummy BALD to do the ultrasound scans! Just when I thought my 'Botak' days are over...

Ma... maybe the porky soup will give me more nutrients to purge out the bacteria in my bladder? heh heh....

Porky Soup for My Soul...

Retribution or what??

I've been straining to pee since Wednesday... kk, in layman terms: that is to keep trying to pee but nothing comes out from the *bird*. Little trickles of urine for all the efforts.... aaargh!

Ma was extremely worried. You know how humans are forever getting urinary tract infections. She was quite sure that this was IT. Afterall, my behaviour and symptoms tally mah!

In her true Mama-style, she decided to self-medicate me.
Humans take cranberry juice for UTI... Kopi takes Porky Soup for UTI! hur hur...
Cranberry juice.. yucks! My fur will turn red from the taste!

Porky Soup (serves 2)
8 bowls of water
4 pieces of Pork bones
2 Carrots

1. Boil water in pot. When boiled, place pork bones into pot.

2. Simmer for 15 mins. Scrape carrot skin and slice them into 2cm chunks.

3. Place carrot chunks into soup. Simmer for another 20 mins. DONE!

4. Let dog have the soup. Meat from the bones & carrots can be fed.

And what's Ma's rationale for the porky soup?

Must force me to drink more liquids to flush out the bacteria in the urinary tract. Plain ol' water is blaah...no motivation to finish my bowl of water mah.
So, porky soup is such a GREAT idea! I finished my bowl of soup in 1 min! And lucky Milo, got to drink some too.

erm... Ma was wondering if this is retribution for peeing on Pa's pond? *Bird* got guilty too and infected my urinary tract???

Ma, nooooo.. it wasn't me! (die die also must act innocent) and can I have more Porky tonight?

{Kopi} I'm sorry... sorry..

Someone peed on Pa's pond last night (or rather yesterday afternoon when Ma was at home with us).

Rrrrrrooooar! Pa was so angry when he discovered it and yelled on top of his lungs. Milo and I quickly scampered into the kitchen to escape Pa's wrath.

A good 30 minutes was spent removing the stone bricks, mopping the area and lots of "I'm going to kill the both of you" yells.

And the stupid water pump decided to breakdown during all the cleaning ruckus. wth... trying to get us in 'hotter' soup, ah? Pa muttered that the dog fur probably got stuck in the pump and the 2 stupid mutts destroyed the pump too.

Ooohhh noooo..... Milo and I squeezed ourselves in a corner each, trying to look sad. What a good tactic that was! Ma & Pa couldn't decide who was the guiltier one (the real culprit) and in the end, we managed to escape the whacking. But not without punishment from Pa, lots of finger-pointing... scolding... no walks tonight talk...

I started to blinking my eyes like crazy and hopefully to squirm my way out.. and phew! The 'find who peed' incident is gone from Pa's mind.

Ma bought Lamb & Cheese pie from US Doggie Bakery!! WOO HOO!

Pie Review by Milo:

Pastry was crisp and tasty... The lamb filling was miserable... cheese erm, not enough as well. It should be dripping with melted cheese!

But I shouldn't complain.. afterall, Ma paid $3.80 for the pies! I have to show my eagerness for the pies, to make Ma buy more!

What a clever boy I am.. I'm realli proud of my strategy. Muahhahahaha...

A little puppy named Spunky...

So sad.... I'm heartbroken.
Ma just read the story of Spunky, the little apricot toy poodle, who was loved dearly by his family for a short 2-week period.

Spunky passed away from the Parvovirus attack. Evil virus that spreaded among puppies in pet shops...

I'm so angry with these stupid dog shops for not looking after our doggie species well. Come on, they are only 2 - 3 months old puppies... The environment NEEDS TO BE CLEAN!!

Think about it as a newborn baby... humans wouldn't leave urine & faeces right next to the baby's nose or limbs for couple of hours right?? As soon as the pampers is slightly soiled.. off! it goes to the bin. Can't pet shops understand the same concept?

kk cut the frills... in a simple, 4-letter word "Bald"!

It's crazy. Ma decided one day that we were getting too hairy for her liking and got Pa to send us to the groomers. Milo and I were totally unprepared as we jumped into Pa's car excitedly, thinking that we were going out for a good, sniffing time.

Two and a half-hours later, after being shoved repeated by the stupid 'Fur-stylist'... placed into an 'incubator-like' machine to dry our fur (huh, what fur... the fur-stylist snipped our crowning glory away)... and we were finally done.

Botak... hur hur.. botak... Ma and Pa were so tickled by our hairless look.

I started frowning and jumping around in the fur-salon like a mad dog. Could not accept me ... being BOTAK! Ma consoled me that my beautiful hairy chest will be back in 2 months, and showered me with plenty of kisses and hugs.

Pa brought us to the World Animal Day - Paws in the Park event at Bishan Park on Sunday. It's organized by SPCA and we had soooooo much sniffing fun!

{Kopi} Ma told me a secret last night...

Pa and Ma went to Holland Village for dinner yesterday evening and decided to visit the pet shops to look-see the cute pups.

In one of the shops, a baby Golden from Aussie caught Pa's fancy.. and he really liked him.
Thankfully, he was really, really expensive!
*Well, how to compare with a local pup like me, hur hur*

Pa.. Pa, look at this ugly chubby pup...
He is:
1) Not as handsome as me
2) Not as intelligent as me
3) Chubby pups may have tendencies for hip problems
4) Goldens take up alot of bed space at home (as it is, Milo snatches your blanket every night)
5) Most importantly, they shed alot, alot, alot, alot... vacumn non-stop leh!

Diminish the thought, Pa! I'm your fave boy!!

Disneyland - Bah!

I am utterly distraught.
Pa was away at Disneyland at one of the asian countries earlier this month.
Being my sweet Pa, he promised Ma to buy us 'The Lady' from 'The Lady and The Tramp' as a gift for us. I was anticipating my very own 'lady' (aka like my very 1st barbie --- ke ke) to swoon over and share my dreams with.

And what happened?
Couldn't believe it when Pa told Ma that there isn't any form of 'lady' at Disneyland! Nothing on notebooks, pens, shirts, cups, stickers, bags ......
And the most horrifying part - people at Disneyland DON'T KNOW who 'the lady' is??!

I'm in anger!! I'm going to have to send my complain letter all the way to the top!! Hmph!

To all important executives at Disney:
Point (1)
Please stock up products of 'The Lady and The Tramp' in all Disneylands. As it is, I have travelled all the way to your place, paid for the hefty entrance fee and still no 'lady'. You dashed all hopes of dreaming together with my 'lady'!

Point (2)
Please educate all staff working in Disney who 'the lady' is... It's embarassing that your staff is clueless on the most famous cocker spaniel on earth!

The story pairs a Cocker Spaniel named Lady who lives with a rich family and a mutt named Tramp who lives on the streets. Once the two of them meet, they share an adventure together and eventually fall in love.

Poor Ma... she's still searching for a sweet 'cha-bor' (woman/lady in chinese dialect) for me and Kopi. Since we cannot have another female cocker spaniel as our playmate, we will have to suffice with the beautiful wallpaper of 'the lady'.

It's 2am, time to wake ma up...
Scratch the bedside drawers.. 'crok crok'

2.05am : Ma!! Wake up! 'crok crok x 10'... hmm, this is not working.
'WOOOF ~ can u hear me Ma??'

2.11am : hiak hiak! Ma got fed up trying to calm me down. She woke up like a zombie and opened the bedroom door to let me out for my thrice-nightly patrol in the kitchen and living room.

4.55am: routine repeats..
this time round must start scratching Ma's arm and sweep the magazine from the bedside table to the ground, just to make sure she wakes up quick!

5.15am: Aha! I won the battle again. Ma's always easy to join the vampire club. And I patrolled my rounds in the living room again.

What can I say... I love my Ma! She understands that I have vampire blood in me and must patrol the grounds every night. I am training Milo to join the vampire club as well, he's always following me on my patrols too.. hur hur!

"Hey hey... stop it, you crazy thing! Leave the poor cockroach alone!"

Yup, that's right! Kopi is in his 'terminator' mood again. He got all excited as he started sniffing the backyard. And lo and behold, he found his prey...

The poor brown thing (probably 100x smaller than him) got drowned in his pool of saliva. Yucks! I could never understand why these tiny things fascinate him that much.

That's not the worst of it... the poor cockroach got literally peeled out of its skin!
Out came it's feelers... it's legs... and I could hear the crunch of it's head... wings... OMG! Nothing's left.

Ma started screeching at him to stop, and tried to pry open his smelly mouth to rescue the poor cockroach. All she got was some remnants of legs, wings... I can't go on, it's too repulsive.

I hope Kopi gets nightmares of cockroaches flying into his ears tonight. He deserved it. Hmph!
